This workshop will explore writing significant moments of otherness––featuring, but not limited to, multicultural, mixed race, immigrant, and LGBTQ perspectives. Literature on the topic of identity, such as Caucasia by Danzy Senna, and Nevada by Imogen Binnie, will be used for discussion. Working from multiple prompts, writers will complete the workshop with material that that can be linked for an essay, expanded into multiple pieces, or fictionalized for a short story or a novel.
