Erika Hayasaki is the author of The Death Class: A True Story About Life (Simon & Schuster 2014).
She is an assistant professor of Literary Journalism at the University of California, Irvine, and a regular contributor to The Atlantic and Newsweek. A former national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, she has published more than 900 articles in the Times and other publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles magazine, Time, and Glamour.
She is the author of two e-book Kindle Singles: Drowned by Corn (2014) and Dead or Alive (2012). Hayasaki is half-Japanese and half-white (English/German), married to a Jamaican-born Brooklynite. They are raising their 2-year-old Jamaican-Hapa daughter in Los Angeles.
